Passover begins tonight and it is a poignant moment to reflect on the recent rise in anti-Semitic and anti-Israel incidents since the pogrom in Israel on October 7.
In the US, anti-Semitic incidents at universities are reaching historic heights. The Anti-Defamation League reports that nearly three-quarters of Jewish students in the US have experienced or witnessed anti-Semitism in the current school year. Harvard and 12 other universities received poor marks for their handling of anti-Semitism on campus. In Europe, the situation also remains worrying. Consider also the recent attacks from Iran.
As we sit at our Seder tables, we will think of the 133 hostages still being held by Hamas, unable to join their families in this festival of liberation.
These incidents remind us that freedom is an ongoing struggle. Let us stand together and fight for a more peaceful and just world.
A celebration of freedom and peace for all and their families!
