Power is just a perception! How can we expand our power?

I would like to draw special attention to the topic of Maverick Buying ️. When departments independently purchase materials and services, without involving the purchasing department or only at a late stage. The reasons are usually a lack of communication , lack of trust in the purchasing department, urgent needs, and personal preferences. This undermines the negotiation power of purchasing and usually leads to worse results .

Therefore, I have made it my task to pass on Nasher’s knowledge to my supply chain team . Not everyone has immediately become a top negotiator. Still, it was a good first step towards developing the perception of negotiation power and competence against suppliers, colleagues, and also me as a superior .
