As someone who has experience in the garment industry as a contract manufacturer in Tunisia and is a graduate engineer specializing in garment manufacturing, I have always used the garment industry as a reference. Although production has disappeared from Germany, the garment industry remains a good example of efficient production.
With collections changing up to monthly, at the lowest costs and prices, and on a global scale, the garment industry has little room for waste.
The most important basis for efficient production is master data maintenance of the short-lived collections with their many variants – analogous to the sheet music 🎼 that enables a symphony orchestra to develop its full potential.
In small and medium-sized companies, there is an increasing lack of music writers with REFA or comparable training who carry out time studies and ensure the master data maintenance of materials, parts lists and work plans. Without this foundation, how can the digitalization and use of AI succeed?
