Windmills instead of walls: Harnessing change through AI
“When the wind of change blows, some build walls and others build windmills” (Chinese proverb)
In the West, we know the novel “Don Quixote” by Miguel de Cervantes and his adventure in the fight against windmills, which he considers to be giants, and the resulting metaphor “fighting against windmills”.
One quote calls for change to be used as an opportunity and for windmills to be built, whereas the other quote sees it as a threat and fights against windmills.
The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2024 is taking place this week, where artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the topics being discussed. Since November 2022, AI has been accessible to everyone through ChatGPT.
I would like to share some of my experiences with AI with you below:
- Administrative and the simplest operational activities occupy 30 to 20% of the capacities in the individual departments and a transfer to higher-value activities can take place promptly.
- Psychological barriers in written communication can be reduced by self-analysing the language, tone and emotions of employees.
- Overcome language barriers between employees and promote co-operation and understanding.
- Increase employee motivation and self-confidence through empowerment.
What are your experiences with the use of artificial intelligence? How do you see the transformation in your specialist departments? Share your opinion with us and let us learn from each other.
